This is a 1960 Mercury Monterey 2 door that we found in Washington, with the previous owner being more interested in holding onto the “idea” of the car, rather than seeing it’s actual potential realized. Thankfully, it ended up coming home with us a few years back. We have had it set aside in the shop, waiting for the plan to be thought through, and the materials list built.
It came to us stock, with the factory V8 and manual transmission. It will be a big block matched with a tremor manual gearbox. We will begin with a 460 and bore/stroke and then blueprint and rebuild with aluminum heads, and a “half-race” cam. The width of the front wheel wells allows for both side pipes to be routed alongside the door bottom, but also a cut-out for running straight exhaust, bypassing the mufflers. More to come. Today is just a roll out and clean day-
