Hard Candy Production Line- restoration in progress

Sometimes, one must venture off the normal path, and we sure do that often enough.

This page will feature our high volume hard candy production line that we picked up over the past couple of years, in bits and pieces. Some parts came from the world famous Jolly Rancher candy line, based at the Smith Brother’s Cough Drop factory in Chicago. While there are other ancillary items, like the batch roller and rope sizer, most of this restoration process is being focused on the Rotoplast Rotary Die Former, and the Hamac Hansella 3 Tier cooling conveyor.

The protoplast die former basically spins a drum with many forming mandrels incorporated within it’s structure, that press and then fling out the candy at a phenomenal rate of speed. They are then dispersed onto the cooling conveyor before heading off to be spun in a coating pan and then wrapped.

Here is the Die former, but keep in mind that theses are all pre-restoration photos.

And then, there is the Hamac Hansella 3 tiered cooling conveyor
